March 31, 2004 - Wow, the last day of March already. How time flies when you're having fun. Today we seem to have a bridge theme going. The first image is of a set of bridges going from Louisiana into Mississippi, while the second image is of a bridge over the Alabama river in of all places, Alabama. I made it all the way into Montgomery, AL today, and will be in Atlanta tomorrow to set up for my next show. It will go from 12:00 noon on Friday through Sunday at 6:00 in the evening.
March 30, 2004 - Left Bemount this morning and headed out towards Atlanta taking all the back roads. This first image is of an old dredge that used to work out on the Mississippi river. There were also 4 old steam shovels around the area that were pretty well beaten up and rusting away The second image is from just outside of Naches Mississippi, it has been there for a long time. It has always been a restaurant. I stopped at a little antique store and the lady running the place remembers going there as a child and getting five huge hamburgers for a buck, that was back in the 30's. It is still open but only on the weekends.
March 29, 2004 - Leaving Houston and heading out towards Atlanta for my next show. I thought the sign was perfect for my exit. Along the border of Texas, on the siding road they have built this little pull out where you can stop and walk out onto this boardwalk that takes you out to a view of this swamp area. Across the back edge you can see all sorts of different types of birds, with white and some with pink feathers. There was even a 12 foot alligator that was floating around the place. I loved this shot of the Cypress, sitting out there by it self, with everything that was out there to see it was a great place to stop.
March 28, 2004 - Sunday at the festival, nice weather, a little humid, with a slight breeze. And then that evening it is time to tear down and leave, I finally made it out by 11:00 at night. .
March 27, 2004 - Saturday night and the festival is over for the day, and it has become kind of a thing to go to Floyd's Cajun Resteraunt for dinner. Tonight we had around 15 of us. Great food, lots of crawdads and Gumbo and other tasty food to eat, oh yea , and good company.
March 26, 2004 - Friday at the show, This is day one and is always a slow day here , most of the artist are walking around talkng to each other, tomorrow it will be a lot different. After the show we went to dinner at the diner which is just down the street from the hotel..
March 25, 2004 - Drove into Houston today and started setting up my booth for the art festival this weekend.
March 24, 2004 - Saw my first Red bear today, heard they are very rare. This one was sitting up in a tree, he looked pretty old to me. This other shot was from below the highway in the Atchafalaya swamp, this over the water portion extends for over 20 miles with Cypress and water as far as you can see in all directions.
March 23, 2004 - Taking the back roads to Houston, sometimes you run into these neat old signs. Both of these were found in Florida, on highway 90 and on highway 27.
March 22, 2004 - I left Winter Park today and am now heading towards Houston for my next show. Tomorrow I will go through Pensacola and head out to the beaches there and enjoy my last day in Florida.
March 21, 2004 - Sunday, last day of the festival. Another beautiful day, lots of sun and lots of people. And then it's teardown and someone gets in a hurry and tries to get around another van, which was the wrong thing to do. He's lucky a train wasn't comming through at the time, although it might have been kinda interesting. Well this is my last show in Florida till the fall, now it's on to Houston, TX.
March 20, 2004 - Lots of people at the festival today, with a concert at one end and nice weather to go along with it. Tomorrow we might have a few clouds but the temp. will be back in the low 80's again. It feels good to be in a shaded area.
March 19, 2004 - Friday, first day of the festival. These shots are from first thing in the morning while everyone was starting to open up their booths for the day. The weather for the day was great, it was around 82 to 84 with a slight breeze.
March 18, 2004 - Today was setup for the Winter Park Arts Festival. I started at 11:00 in the morning and got out of there at 5:00. Had a great dinner at a little place down the road, and back to the hotel. The festival opens up at 9:00 tomorrow morning with great weather through the whole weekend.
March 17, 2004 - Ran around today, found out where the art festival will be and got a room set up close by for the show. Then spent the afternoon over at air cargo unloading my van and repacking it with all the work I sent down. I felt like I just got done with a show after all that, and now tomorrow I will go through it all again plus I will also have to set up my booth to.
March 16, 2004 - Yahoo! I'm outa here, back on the road again. Everything is all shipped out and now the flight down to Florida. This first image is from over the Columbia river right at the north end of Wenatchee, WA. As we head east it got a little cloudy for most of the trip into Denver, but by the time we got there it cleared up for this next shot, the bank into Denver, CO. I was supposed to leave here at 6:30 but ended up finally leaving at 8:30 so by the time I got into Orlando it was 2:00 in the morning, it was a long day.
March 15, 2004 - It is now 12:30 pm and I have just returned from taking everything to the airport to have it shipped out. It has been a long day, and will feel good to get on a plane tomorrow and get back to my van and doing another show. Plus now that I will be back on the road for 3 shows you will see lots of new images.
March 14, 2004 - Last day of putting together pictures. Tomorrow I will start to box everything up so I can send it away.
March 13, 2004 - I spent today cutting mats and putting together pictures. By tomorrow evening I should have everything done and will then start to box it all up. Outside was a beautiful day with some clouds and some sun, it is starting to feel a little like spring around here.
March 12, 2004 - Got up at 5:oo this morning and went into my darkroom and almost finnished printing, but ran out of film so I had to run to Seattle to get one more box. By this evening I was done printing and doing my emulsion lifts so now all I have left to do is cut mats. I also did some experiments with some negatives and some polaroid film and got some interesting effects. The first image is one of them, the second one is of a flowering plum of some type in my front yard.
March 11, 2004 - Today I finnished spraying frames, one down one to go. I also thought that if I have to be out in my shop working on frames , you might as well see the pictures of my shop to, so you can see what I do every day.
March 10, 2004 - It was a good day today for shooting frames. I sprayed 100 frames with the black lacquer and tomorrow I will do the clear coat on the rest of them. Then I just have to figure the box sizes for shipping them. Then I can start back on my matting and printing my own work.
March 09, 2004 - Finnished staining frames, tomorrow I will start spraying lacquer.
March 08, 2004 - Got up this morning to a beautiful day outside. I was able to get a ot of staining done on some frames and tomorrow I should be able to give them a coat or two of lacquer.
March 07, 2004 - Spent the day cutting and putting together mats and pictures. It felt good not having sawdust up your nose and in your eyes for a day.
March 06, 2004 - Another day at the office, working on frames and finally starting on cutting mats for my images.
March 05, 2004 - I thought it was light but it was just more rain. I still have about 40 more frames to do and then I have to put all my work together, plus box up the others and then ship everything out.
March 04, 2004 - I think I can almost see the light at the end of the table, table saw that is. By this weekend I will be done building picture frames and will start spraying them. I am also going to start cutting my mats for the frames.
March 03, 2004 - It's raining outside and I'm building frames inside, when will it ever end.
March 02, 2004 - Another day another frame, all my rough lumber is slowly turning into more frames. These shots are of all the frames I'm working on right now.
March 01, 2004 - Not much going on just building frames.
