May 31, 2004 - Monday, the last day of May and the last day of the Art Festival. It is now 2:30 in the morning and I am just getting in from tearing down my booth and getting out of there. Tomorrow morning I will leave here at around 7:00- 7:30 and head on up the road 1,000 miles and be in Columbus by Wednesday afternoon and set up for another show.

May 30, 2004 - Sunday, another scorcher of a day at the art fair. It was 94-95 degrees and very humid, plus from noon till around 7:00 that night we had tornado warnings and a severe storm warnings so it kept a lot of people away. This evening a bunch of us went out for sushi and enjoyed a good meal.

May 29, 2004 - First full day at the Dallas Art Fest, and it was a warm, humid day. This was the first year at this new location for the show, and I think it holds a lot of promise for being a good show. I was able to walk around a little before the show started this morning and stopped in to see a few friends. This first shot is of Cathy, a friend from Kansas City. After the day was over a few of us got together for dinner and a salute to a good day tomorrow. That was the second shot. Then it was back to the hotel and a night of much needed sleep. Good Night.

May 28, 2004 - After yesterday, it was another busy day today. Setup started at 7:30 in the morning and then the show started at 6:00 that evening. We had to cart in our work to where our booths were, through three different openings. With the temperature pushing the 90's it was slow moving, and with drinking lots of water.Tomorrow will be more of the same, but even a little higher temperature, and a chance of thunder and lighting in the afternoon.

May 27, 2004 - Finally I'm done. It's been over a week since I last put anything into this page. I have been changing over my work from Polaroid Transfers to my new process and it has been pretty hectic, I think that if I were to do it again I would wait until I had more time at home or until the end of the year. Between putting together 20 frames for an order for a artist who is a painter and wanted a special type of frame and then another 120 frames plus matting and printing my own work it has been a short 22 days. I was finally able to take my work and ship it out last night at around 10:00 o'clock. Then it was back home to try and get my office back in a little bit of order. Now that I'm back on the road again things should be back to normal, or as normal as it can be for me. Right now I'm trying to write this as I am flying back to Dallas for my next show, it's getting a little choppy out there and I am having a fine time trying to hit the keys on my laptop so I will have lots of spelling mistakes to fix when I'm done. As I was writing this last bit in here, we were about to make our decent into Dallas and I thought that I would have a nice dinner with some friends and then go back to the hotel and finish up this entry, but how quick things can change. As we were making our approach, we entered a storm cell. We were almost able to make the window of opportunity for landing, but at the last second that closed and we ended up circling the airport for almost an hour. Then since they decided that we didn't have enough fuel to keep on going around in circles we flew up to Oklahoma City and landed and refueled there. We sat there for around an hour or so, then waited in line with other planes that were stacked up trying to get back to Dallas. When we did leave , we got back and went back into a holding pattern around Dallas with a lot of other planes. We were finally able to land, but then sat out on the runway for almost another hour before being able to move on up to the gate, where we sat for another 15 to 20 minutes before we were finally able to get off the plane. All in all, my flight that was going to get me there at 7:30 in the evening, ended up getting in at 12:30 at night. They ended up closing down the airport for 4 hours, What a trip. By the time I got into the hotel it was 2:00 in the morning. The images above are of almost 700 pounds of artwork at air cargo and of the plane trip to Dallas.

May 17, 2004 - Went up to Seattle to pick up some things to finish off an order for frames, and then stopped in and said hi to Mike and Milisa. Then it was back home to do some spraying of lacquer on my own frames. While I was up in Seattle I came across these poppies and thought that they might look good in my new process, so this is kind of a before and after shot of what they look like.

May 16, 2004 - This morning I moved into the matting room and cut and put together 37 mats and pictures. Now I have only around 100 more to go. Then I will have to still drop them into my frames. Had some friends stop by later in the morning, and then went out to mom's for the afternoon to look at building a new closet for her.

May 15, 2004 - Another day of working on frames, that is all!

May 14, 2004 - This morning I finished off the last of the frames, so now they need to be sprayed. I ran around and did some other things throughout the rest of the day, saw Mike, picked up a picture to be matted, and had a visit from my mom. It was also a nice day out there today, the sun was shinning, it was warm, in the 70's and it might be the last one for a few days. It is supposed to rain for the next few days, but since it was so nice this evening I thought I would put up some new pictures of the yard.

May 13, 2004 - This morning I did something different, I worked on some frames for some one else before I started on my own frames. But after those I then worked on mine and got most of them done, a little more work in the morning and that should do it for building them .

May 12, 2004 - Went up to Seattle today and picked up the rest of the wood that I need for completing all my frames. Then stopped by Mikes place to see some new panels that he was working on, they were looking pretty good. Then headed back to the shop to work on my own stuff.

May 11, 2004 - Built frames again, it seems that's all I do anymore! .

May 10, 2004 - Got up and built more frames today. Then spent the afternoon and evening going through some of my images , looking to see which ones will work for my wet prints.

May 09, 2004 - Happy Mothers Day!, Spent the morning working on frames and then left in the afternoon to go to moms and fix dinner for her.

May 08, 2004 - Busy day today, ran up to Seattle and delivered two pictures, and picked up some wood for building more frames for me. Then went up to the Pike Place Market and picked up some halibut for Mothers Day tomorrow. I also picked up some crab and shrimp for dinner tonight. It was also a great night for looking at the stars, with the telescope set up we were able to see an eclipse on Venus, the rings around Saturn, Jupiter and four of its moons, and even a comet. It was a very, very good night.

May 07, 2004 - It was a damp and cloudy day today. It started out with a little rain in the morning and looked like it might clear up for a while, but instead we got more clouds and more rain. We did have a few brakes in the afternoon , but had one time where the sky just turned black and just dumped rain. I was out on the front porch and did these shots, the first is of Radars new flower bed, and the second is of some of the last tulips we have, being beaten down by all that rain.

May 06, 2004 - Nice day today, finished off two sample frames and will box them up tomorrow and send them out. I also picked up more supplies, and am thinking of changing my panels so I spent some time looking at different ways of building them and for materials to build them with. I then spent the rest of the evening filling out applications for several other art festivals.

May 05, 2004 - Ran around today, picked up my stuff from air cargo and then built a couple of frames for another order from another artist. It was one of those first day home days where you plan a lot of things but really just take it easy for a day.

May 04, 2004 - Got on a plane this morning and flew back home. I had a full flight and my seat was right along side of one of the engines that are mounted right on the side of the back of the jet, I think I can almost hear again. The first image here is from one of the lakes we flew over in Utah, it had some nice color to it. the next image is from over Seattle as we were landing.

May 03, 2004 - Not much going on today, just ran around and found out where the next show will be and then out to air cargo to ship back some boxes for more art.

May 02, 2004 - Sunday, and another teardown at another show. I will actually tear down the rest of my booth on Monday morning, because we all went out to dinner and by the time we got back it was after 10:00 and it takes me about 3 hours to dismantle and put away my work. We are in a park so I will be able to do this. I also have to sort some stuff out and send home a few pictures because I am changing my work.

May 01, 2004 - Today was one of those days at a show when the weather took over, it was around 59 to 61 degrees out with a very cloudy and windy day. So I thought I would show you a few pictures of some fellow artists. Seung Lee is a print making artist from California and Ronna is a painter from New Mexico. It was one of those days where the artist did a lot of visiting each other.
