June 29, 2005 - I spent last night in Dickinson, ND and around 11:00 pm that night we had a tornado warning. When I looked out the window of my room I saw the trees across the street bent way over and the rain coming down sideways. And then there was the lightning, which was a constant light show all across the sky, which sometimes lit up as bright as day. And the thunder was one blast after another with no time off between flashes. So today I got up and headed out early and took a few more back roads on the way into Montana. So the images of the day are of those backroads that I so frequently travel on.

June 28, 2005 - I tried to stay on the freeway today, but only made it around 20 miles before I had to get off and travel on the side roads. There's just to much to see out there. By the end of the day I did end up back on the main road though, I do still have to get home and start on new work, and fill out some orders from my last shows. But while I was on those side roads I did manage to shoot a few more barns, and some other buildings. Then it was back out on the freeway where I shot this image of the Canola fields in North Dakota.

June 27, 2005 - I'm outa here, as soon as I get by all these toll booths that you have to pass through, to get out of town. It was another hot one today, with the temp up into the high 90's. It was one of those days where I just stuck to the main roads so that I could get some quick miles on to help get me on my way home. I ended up making it all the way to ST. Cloud, MN, which was about 470 miles down the road from Chicago. I did run into one good thunder and lighting storm just outside of ST. Paul, MN. So todays images are of the toll booths as I left Chicago and of the storm that I went through.

June 26, 2005 - So, another show comes to a close, and now I will head out tomorrow morning on my way back to my home. It will feel good to get back there after being on the road for a month. The images of the day are of the future of photography, this little girl in my booth taking pictures with a digital camera. I watched her move back and forth, up and down, turning that camera this way and that way before finally taking her shot. The next image is from the teardown of the show, and of the Metra system that takes people into and out of downtown Chicago. It is that blurry lighted train in the top half of the picture. Well that about does it for tonight, see you later.,br>

June 25, 2005 - So the first day is over and tonight I will get some sleep, I got out of there at around 2:30 this morning, and finally got to bed at around 3:15. I then got up at 7:00 this morning and went back to finish setting up my booth. The images of today are of the people starting to file in for the start of the art festival today.

June 24, 2005 - Well, finally I'm in Chicago, or at least working my way into it. So tonight is setup for the art festival this weekend and the temperature is up in the high 90's. The images of today are from my drive into the city, and of the spot where my booth will set.

June 23, 2005 - One more day on the road, and another 200 plus miles. When I started this trip on Monday it was only around 900 miles, but now I've put on close to 1200 miles and still have about 125 miles to go. I guess that's what I get for taking the back roads. It was another hot muggy day out there today, and I hear it will stay that way through the weekend. Todays images are from my drive along Highway 40 which is the old historic National Highway that dates back to the late 1700's to early 1800's. As you drive through most of the small towns along this road, you find the older brick buildings right up against the edge of the road. This is because back in the old days, this road was just a gravel or dirt road with more space between it and the buildings. Tomorrow I finally head up to Chicago, and will set up tomorrow evening.

June 22, 2005 - Today was just an easy day of driving along the back roads of Ohio. By the time I was done driving today I had put on another 200 miles, so I should make it into Chicago by tomorrow afternoon. Unless I decide to take some other side roads on the way there. Todays images are from one of the side roads I was on. As I drove along this one road I kept crossing over this little creek, and then came across this little waterfall, I was tempted to take a plunge in there with the temperature going up into the low 90's again today. The other image is from a little forgotten town where hardly anyone lives anymore, and had a sign as you drove through that said it was the home town of Hopalong Cassidy, an old cowboy western star from my time as a kid.

June 21, 2005 - Today was another day of lots of stopping and going and stopping and going again. This time I did manage to get another 300 miles down the road, the only problem was, I didn't get that much closer to Chicago. I left Front Royal at 6:30 this morning and headed out towards Harpers Ferry, I remembered it from history while I was in High School, and now was my chance to go check it out. What an incredible place, lots of history here, with the town being at the meeting of 2 rivers, and of the people that had passed through, and of the battles during the civil war. I think I must have shot around 40 images while I was there. After that it was up to one of the battle fields where there were over 23,000 people killed or wounded in one day of fighting. It was an incredible day, for a history lesson. And then it was off to just outside of Wheeling, West Virginia, for a good night of sleep. So the images of the day are of a few of the buildings while I was in Harpers Ferry. Hopefully, I will now be able to put on more than a few hundred miles a day, but you never know what I might run into, see you later.

June 20, 2005 - I left Virginia Beach early this morning so that I could take a little more time driving the back roads out of Virginia. A person could spend a lot more time than I have getting out of here, with all the old buildings and all. Most of the images I shot were of old houses and a few churches that are all from the 1700's to 1800's. I also was able to shoot some old railway cars that I am sure will work for my Wet Print process. I ended up putting on around 200 miles, and made it back up to Front Royal, Virginia. Tomorrow I will head up to Harpers Ferry, and then on up to Interstate 70 and on towards Chicago, but not to fast, I don't have to be there till 7:30 at night on Friday to set up.

June 19, 2005 - Ahhh! here it is, Sunday the last day of the show and it is finally a pleasant day, except for the wind. And we had plenty of that. By the end of the show they had put up the red flags down along the beach because the surf was so ruff. So now it's on to Chicago, for one last show and then I get to drive my van back home, for a few weeks anyway. The images of the day are of one last look down the boardwalk, and of the tear down of my booth at the show. And that will about do it for tonight, because it's close 11:30 and I have a few more things to do before the night it over.

June 18, 2005 - The third day of a four day show, and this is the third one in a row. At least it finally cooled down a few degrees today. We were supposed to get some thunder storms in the afternoon, but that never happened, and we finished the evening at 8:00 p.m. tonight under some nice skies. So the images of the day are of a beach ball found out in the sand, just a few feet from my booth. The other image is from just after dinner at a Indian restaurant, where five of us went to dinner. and now it's time to get some sleep before the show goes on tomorrow.

June 17, 2005 - Day 2 of the art festival, and it has finally started to cool down a little. So everything is about the same as before. But tomorrow is Saturday and then we will get the crowds coming in. The pictures for today are from my little walk down along the boardwalk this morning.

June 16, 2005 - Sometimes you wonder how many hot days in a row you can take, today it was in the high 90's again, but it is supposed to start cooling off tomorrow. I think that they said that yesterday too. So since it was only Thursday we were not expecting that much, because most people are still working. But tomorrow is Friday and it will start to get a little more crowded for the start of the weekend. Todays images are from early in the day, when the people were just starting to come out, and from later in the day and we started to get some wind coming at us from the front. In this next picture, I have taken the shot from out the back of my booth, looking over to where another booth had blown over backwards, I guess he didn't hear that buckets of sand will help hold the front of your booth down .

June 15, 2005 - Wow! it was a hot one today, 95 degrees, but it is supposed to cool down a little by the weekend. It's 2:10 in the morning here, and I just got back to my room from setting up my booth. So the images of the day are of the setup at Virginia Beach. That's all, there is no more, I'm going to bed, goodnight!.

June 14, 2005 - This morning I left Breezewood at around 8:00 am and two hours later I had traveled only 20 miles. That's the one thing about taking all the back roads to where ever you are going, there's to much to see. I finally made it to Williamsburg by around 8:00 that night, but I only had to go 200 miles, and it was a hot muggy 200 miles to go. It got up to 98 today, and will be the same tomorrow before it starts to cool down into the 80's for the weekend. I did have a nice drive today and was able to get in a few shots of some old barns and one old gas station. I think the station might work out to be a nice image. We'll see.

June 13, 2005 - Onward to Virginia Beach. I made it out of Pittsburgh at around 1:00 this afternoon, and took to the back roads for awhile, on my way to Breezewood, which is where I planned to spend the evening. Not to far out of Pittsburgh, I went through the town of Elisabeth, PA , which is where I came across this steel bridge. Later in the day I ended up on the turnpike which runs across Pennsylvania, and that's where I went through this tunnel, on my way to Breezewood. So that's it for the night, we'll see you tomorrow.

June 12, 2005 - After a few days of humid cloudy weather, we finally come up with a nice day. The weatherman said storms by the afternoon, but we had a beautiful day all the way through teardown. It was nice to be able to put your things away while they were dry. The sun also brought out lots of people today, for the last day of the show for me, but it will still go on for another week for some of the other artist, and another group that will move in next Friday for the last weekend.

June 11, 2005 - So, I just finished up with the show and stopped at Subway for a sandwhich to have for dinner tonight and drove by a sign that displays the time and temp. It was 11:30 at night and was still 71 degrees, whew! I thought it was humid today. We also had what the festival called a code blue, which means that there was a thunder storm with strong winds and rain headed our way, and to shut down the booth before it hit. The rest of the afternoon and evening it was rain off and on. Early in the day I did these two shots of the booths around the fountain which sits in front of my booth, It's a nice area of the show because there is a little more room around the booths for the people and in the hot weather it offers some respite from the heat.

June 10, 2005 - First day of the show, and it was a great day, a little humid, but no rain or wind gusts to ruin the day. Todays images are of the people walking out and about at the show. And they say that this weather might be here through the weekend. We can only wait and see.

June 09, 2005 - Flew back in from Seattle today, got into Columbus at 5:30 this morning and headed on towards Pittsburgh. By the time I got done setting up my booth for the show it was 3:00 in the morning, so I called it a night and would come back in the morning and finish up then, since we didn't start until noon. So the days images are as I drove through Wheeling, West Virginia, and of some of the buildings in downtown Pittsburgh.

June 01, 2005 - The first day of June, it's late, I just got done setting up my month of June on my Out The Window page, and I just drove over 800 miles and I have to get up early and drive the rest of the way to Columbus so that I can get on a plane and fly home, whew! So on the way here I drove through Menphis, which is where the first image is from. And then I stopped at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, and that is where the second image is from. And now I will call it quits for the night, get some sleep, and get on down the road tomorrow morning. See you later.
