August 14, 2005 - Two cool days in a row, that must be a record, the way the weather has been these past few months. We had a few clouds in the morning here but by 1:00 in the afternoon the clouds parted and the sun came through. The show was over at 5:00, and the images for today are of the teardown after the show.
August 13, 2005 - Saturday night, had a good dinner with friends, and then back to the hotel for some kick back time. We had some sprinkles and a cloud layer all the way into late afternoon, then the sun finally made it's appearance. Tomorrow we are supposed to have some better weather rolling in, we'll just have to wait and see. The images of the day are again taken from right outside my booth.
August 12, 2005 - 11:30 pm and I'm done for the day, or night, whatever. The booth is all set up and ready for the weekend, so now I can sleep in until 7:00 tomorrow morning, before I leave for the show. The images for today are from out in front of my booth, looking each way. See you all tomorrow.
August 11, 2005 - One more day to get to Chicago, and which way should I go. So it was back up the Mississippi. I guess I'm just a water person. And since I was going along the river, I thought I would try and get a few more shots of the lotus flowers. What you really need out here is a canoe or kayak to get you around these swampy areas, but lacking that, it was back to wading out into the muddy river and getting a few more pictures. So now that's all done and I am now sitting about 45 miles outside of Chicago. Tomorrow I will head on in, get to my room, and then go through the whole process of setting up my booth for the weekend again.
August 10, 2005 - All week long I have been jumping back and forth across the Mississippi and have not been able to get close enough to shoot these lotus blossoms along the banks of the river. They have always been to far off the edge, but today I was finally able to get to an area where I was able to wade out to get some shots. Along with the flowers , there are also the seed pods that come afterwards. These are just some incredible flowers. I would love to dig some up, to take home but I have no swamp to put them in. Also I don't think they would last to long in my van. So now that I have these shots, I am now left with getting this dried black sticky Mississippi river mud off my legs, and it is no easy job. It has been caked and dried on my legs all day, no wonder people were looking at me as I walked around. Well I think tomorrow I will work my way over to Chicago, I should be there by tomorrow night. You never know though. See you later.
August 09, 2005 - Zig, Zaggin, back and forth across the Mississippi river today, so I thought I would show some of the bridges that I went across. I only put on 150 miles, but ended up going back and forth through 4 different states. I have two more days before I will have to be in Chicago, so we will have to see what else there is out there. Right now outside my room there is a big storm blowing in, and we should be getting some large hail, and a lot of rain. it was a hot muggy day today, so this weather will feel pretty good, but we'll wait and see tomorrow if it will cool down like they say.
August 08, 2005 - So today it was back out on the road, and heading towards Chicago. I didn't do to much driving , since I only left the hotel at 12:00 this afternoon. Along the way ,though, I did manage to get this shot, and a few more of this old barn. The flowers were there for the taking to so I snapped a few of them to. Tomorrow I hope to travel down along the Mississippi for awhile, and maybe get some more shots of old advertising on the walls of the old buildings in the towns along the way.
August 07, 2005 - Another hot day at the show, but where my booth is located, I had a nice breeze off the lake and the shade from the tree. I took a little walk around the show, and down at one end you cross over a litttle bridge to get to the other booths. The setting for this show is great. The images for today are from down by this bridge, looking back over the show. This evening it will be time to tear down and move out, and head on down the road to the next town, see you later.
August 06, 2005 - Saturday, at the show. It seems like I just got done with a set of shows in the heat, and here I am again. Tomorrow it will be up into the 90's again. Everyone here is wondering who I paid off, my booth is under a nice big shade tree, with a nice breeze coming off the little lake behind my booth. the images of the day are a few shots taken from in front of my space, looking each way.
August 05, 2005 - It should have been a short drive into Minneapolis today, but darn those pesky side roads. I was going to pass up this field of sunflowers, thinking that I would see a lot more, but at the last second I pulled off and took a side road back to this field. I ended up taking around 30 shots, with a few panoramics to. And it's a good thing I stopped here, because as I passed other fields of sunflowers, they were not yet all the way open. Then it was on to Minneapolis to set up for the art festival. This other shot is of the background behind my booth which I was in the process of setting up.
August 04, 2005 - Next stop, Minneapolis, and I should be there by noon. It seems like I've been down this road so much that I am looking for new things to show you that you haven't seen before. So today we will take pictures of grain silos that I pass by. Even better if they have some writing on them. Today was one long day of driving across a long flat state, and I am now sitting at the edge in Fargo. The weather looks good for the weekend, and I will start my set up tomorrow night. So until then, good night.
August 03, 2005 - Got up early this morning and had a few clouds and some rays of the sun to greet me as I started out on the road again. It was a great day for a drive, I had some cloud cover that made for some interesting panoramics. Later in the day, as I drove through one of the many small towns in Montana, I came across this old advertisement painted on the side of one of the buildings. I'm sure that this or one of the other shots I got of this will work itself into one of my images. After that it was on to find a hotel for the evening, see you tomorrow.
August 02, 2005 - Back out on the road again, this time over to Minneapolis, and then down to Chicago. So the first day back out there and here is another view of the Columbia river at Vantage. The next image is from around Ritzville, over in eastern Washington. And that will about do it for today, see you later.
