May 31, 2006 - Well, here I am, another 450 miles down the road. I'm now sitting here in Lexington, Kentucky, and am now in the eastern time zone. Tomorrow I will head out and get to Pittsburgh in the afternoon, where I will set up my booth tomorrow night. I've been kinda on the freeway and off of it today, seeing as I do have to put some miles on each day. I was able to get a few shots of some old bars and houses along the way which I think looked pretty cool. I was also able to shoot a few more train cars today, by the time I was done with them it had started to rain and continued all the way in to the evening and my drive to Lexington. Well it's now 11:30 and I still have to finish this, so we'll see you later.
May 30, 2006 - Greetings from Arkansas! So after a afternoon of driving I am now sitting in Forest City, Arkansas. It feels good to get out of town and be heading north to some cooler weather. outside right now there is a great lighting and thunder storm going on, so this is taking a little bit to write because I keep going out to watch the storm. Todays images are from out the window of my van, the first is out the front as I was driving down Interstate 30, the second is as I was crossing this river on Interstate 40 close to where I stopped for the night.
May 29, 2006 - Happy Memorial Day, now on to business. It's Monday and the fair is finally over. Now it's time to pick things up and head on out to Pittsburgh for my next show. This whole show was slow, there were not that many people through the whole weekend. I'm glad this one is over, so were a lot of other artist's. Todays images are from early in the day at a vantage point overlooking the show, and later that evening after the show looking at the back of my van and how packed it was. Now it's off to Pittsburgh.
May 28, 2006 - Another day in paradise, oh yea, and 95 degree weather again. And now it's Sunday and we have one more day to go. It has been a slow couple of days here and small crowds of people, but with one more day to go we'll see what happens. The images from today are from just around my booth, the first is from just outside looking down the row. The second is from just over the hill by my booth, looking at another artist busy in his booth. Well, that's about it for tonight, we'll see you tomorrow.
May 27, 2006 - Saturday, and the first full day at the show. Maybe it was the heat, but it was pretty slow today, it was up in the 90's again and I think it was even hot for the people that live here in Dallas. The normal temperature for this time of year here is only in the low to mid 80's. So we still have 2 days left to get something going. The images from today are of one of the things that they had going on for the kids, this was a wall for rock climbing. The second image is of the small crowds that were here. Hope tomorrow is better.
May 26, 2006 - Half a day of setup and then the show starts at 6:00. It was another hot one out there, so it takes a while setting up your booth, I'm glad I set mine up yesterday. As you can see by the first image, people were taking there time, even today, because of the heat. The show went till 10:00 tonight so later that evening I was able to get this second image of the lights on in our booths, and of the people coming around. tomorrow the show starts at 10:00 in the morning and thats when we'll get the real crowds, see you then.
May 25, 2006 - Another hot one out there today, and another show to cart into. These are the times when you take all day to set up your booth. I got there at 12:00 this afternoon and it is now 10:30 at night and I am just getting in from out there. As I went by a sign that tells the temperature and it was still 85 degrees. Tomorrow and through the weekend it will be in the 90's, time for lots of water and juice. Todays images are from the start of setup this morning to this evening when I was just about done with getting everything into my booth.
May 24, 2006 - Yesterday was yellow flower day, today is white flower day. On my drive out of Palestine this morning I came across this Magnolia tree that was blooming close enough to the ground that I was able to get several images of the flowers from this tree. After that I took one of the smaller back roads towards Dallas. later in the day I came across this small pond that had these water lilies growing close enough to the edge that I was able to get a few shots of them as well. And now I am in Dallas, and will go set up my booth tomorrow morning, the festival will start Friday afternoon, but they will let us set up early. This is a good thing because it is going to be another hot weekend here.
May 23, 2006 - Hola!! here I am again, twice in one day. This time with the real stuff for the day. There wasn't much going on today, with me trying to find a new cord to be able to transfer over pictures onto my laptop. Finally though I got everything in order and was able to head out on the road again. I spent the rest of the day driving up to Rusk, TX which is where I wanted to shoot an old train, but it wasn't there. I will call their office tomorrow morning and get some info about where it is and if I can get some shots of it before heading on towards Dallas. On the way to Rusk I came across this field of Black Eyed Susan's which were around 5 feet tall, and with me in a small ditch, it kinda made me feel like I had shrunk down to a few inches tall. I would like to find some of these flowers in a few weeks, after they have bloomed so I could get some seeds from them and take them back home to plant and hope that they flower back at home next year. We'll see, I still have another week here before I leave. so enjoy the two shots that I did get.
May 22, 2006 - Part 2 with pictures. Well here I am again, and this will be gone before you know it because I will soon be putting the real stuff up for todays date which is really the 23rd of May. But, anyway, yesterday I left the Woodlands and headed down to Galveston and then out to the east along the coast. It was late afternoon by the time I got there and with the sun starting to go down I was able to get some nice saturation in my images. The first image is from right along the water and some of the flowers that grow along there. The second image is from later that evening as I drove over this bridge that goes over the intercostal waterway. I got there at just the right time, because I was able to catch the tug and barge along with the sun going down in a big red ball.
May 22, 2006 - Due to tecnical difficulties, like I lost the cord that plugs into my camera to download pictures, there will be no pictures tonight, but some how I will get them up as soon as possible. So this will be a continued thing tomorrow. Good night.
May 21, 2006 - Another hot one out there again today. There were a few more people out today, but the heat really puts a damper on the people coming out. It's also Sunday, so tonight we will be tearing down and packing up for another show. The images from today are one from the back of my booth looking at what goes on behind the booths, and two, late that evening, tearing down the booth and packing out of there.
May 20, 2006 - I guess I could use the first part of yesterdays message for today, only it was 97 degrees today. And even though I was by the water it was hot!!! This morning there were a lot of people out there but as the day went on and the temperature went up the people thinned out. Tomorrow is supposed to be a little cooler, I hope so, because it will also be time to tear down our booths and move on outta there. I think we're in for a long night. Todays images are from right outside my booth this afternoon, looking back towards the row of booths, and a shot from the back of my booth looking out at one of the boat taxis that ply the waterway moving people back and forth.
May 19, 2006 - Hot, Hot, Hot, whew!!!! it was a hot one today. By the time I got to the show for setup this morning it was 10:00 a.m., and it was already into the eighties. By mid day it was into the nineties and humid. The good thing about this set up was that they brought in a bunch of golf carts with room on back to stack your artwork and haul it to the booth. I can only cringe at what tear down is going to be like. So the images for today are, #1, a view from the parking lot which was one of three separate places where you could set your booth up from. and #2, around 10:00 p.m. that evening, after everybody's booths where set up. So now it's time to get some sleep, see you later.
May 18, 2006 - Greetings from the state of Texas. I am now back out there on the road, this time for a month, that's 4 shows in a row and every one will be carted in to my booth space. Whatever happened to those shows where you pulled up right in front of your booth. So, anyway, this will just be a brief note tonight, being as I've been up for a while and I put in a few more hours driving another 200 miles tonight. The images from today are as I was driving through Dallas on the way out of town, and then later on that evening going down highway 45 on the way to Houston. So that will do it for now, see you tomorrow.
May 7, 2006 - Sunday at the fair and we finally had a decent day of weather. There were a few clouds in the morning but by mid day they had pretty much cleared away and except for some high clouds, there was a lot of blue sky out there. The first image today is a shot of my booth from just outside. The second image is from later in the day, of all the people walking around in the straw and mud from the day before. I am now heading back home for a week before coming back down here for a couple more shows in Houston and then back here in Dallas.
May 6, 2006 - Rain, rain, rain, how many times can I say rain in this story. Ah, it wasn't really that bad, just for the afternoon. But it was a muddy mess out there all day today. Instead of green grass it was more like a barnyard out there with all the straw spread around to soak up the puddles of water and mug. The pictures from today kinda sum up what the day was like. Tomorrow is going to be different, so the weatherman says. We'll just have to wait till then to see. See you tomorrow.
May 5, 2006 - Beep, Beep, Tornado Warning, Beep, Beep. All day long we had beautiful weather for setting up our booths for this weekend art festival, but now it is 12:30 at night and the rain is coming down in buckets and there are tornado warnings out there for tonight. they say it will be getting better as the day rolls on tomorrow. In the mean time, you can see by the blue skies that we had good weather for our artist dinner and for set up. The first image is from our dinner, after that I had to go back out to my booth and finish setting up my pictures in my booth, and that is where the second image is from. So by 10:00 tomorrow morning I will know if my booth survived the storms throughout the evening, and how much water will be setting on the ground. We'll see you all then.
May 4, 2006 - Hola! well for the lack of any good pictures I thought I would draw out the images today. I think maybe I should give up my photography and get into the real art scene. So the first image is of my lift off from Seattle and the flight over Mt. Rainier. The second image is as we were getting ready to land in Dallas, quite dramatic don't you think? I hate to go back to normal pictures tomorrow, after these fine drawings from today, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. So we'll see you tomorrow.
